Abstract

Indonesia’s digital economy is expanding rapidly; however, structural gaps remain in digital capabilities, platform readiness, and value-chain integration, limiting productivity and competitiveness. This study proposes the Digital Value Chain Entrepreneurship (DVCE) framework as a strategic model to address these gaps and support Indonesia’s transition toward an innovation-driven digital economy. Using a conceptual research approach supported by theoretical synthesis and comparative benchmarking, the study evaluates the relevance and coherence of the framework. The findings reveal that the DVCE framework introduces five essential layers that operate sequentially and interdependently: (1) digital business model logic, (2) platform orchestration mechanisms, (3) intelligent automation supported by data governance, (4) capability-scaling pathways for MSMEs and startups, and (5) sustainability and ethical governance as a mandatory layer—not an optional extension. This layered architecture enables value co-creation, reduces digital fragmentation, and supports scalable innovation. The study concludes that DVCE offers a coherent blueprint for building competitive, scalable, and responsible digital ventures in emerging economies.
